Today I introduced a math center where the kids practiced addition using dominos. Basically they take a domino and put it on their paper and make a math sentence using the number of dots on each side. The kids seemed to really enjoy the center. It is a great way for them to see visually what they are adding together. I was also proud of them for sharing the tools and helping each other when they were stuck on how to solve or write a problem. (And let's be honest.... they were happy to be out of their desks and hanging out with friends around the classroom doing math).
As the students continue to become more independent workers, I will put out more centers like this!
